• أعجب أنه لم يحصل قط أن نظر دين ما إلى العلم و أستنتج "ذلك أفضل مما ظننا ! الكون أكبر و أعظم بكثير بل أدهى و أشد أناقة بكثير مما أخبرنا عنه الأنبياء"؟ بدلا عن ذلك يقولون "لا, لا, لا! ألهي هو ذلك ألإله الصغير و أريد له أن يبقى كذلك". لو أن ديناً ما قديما أو حديثا قد أصر بشدة على الدهشة بعظمة الكون كما كشفه العلم الحديث لحصل ربما على قدر كبير من التقديس بدون أي ضرورة لوجود أي نوع من الأيمان التقليدي المتعارف عليه.

• ليس من الواضح لماذا يعتبر الانتقال من نظام تعددي للآلهة إلى التوحيد خطوة تطورية بشكل بديهي واضح لا يحتاج للنقاش. التعليق الذي كتبه ابن وراق! (مؤلف كتاب لماذا لست مسلما) فيه الكثير من النباهة أن التوحيد بدوره سيصاب بنفس نكبة إنقاص عدد ألآلهة واحداً آخر ليصيبك إلحاداً.
  • بالإنجليزية: It is not clear why the change from polytheism to monotheism should be assumed to be a self-evidently progressive improvement. But it widely is – an assumption that provoked Ibn Warraq (author of Why I Am Not a Muslim) wittily to conjecture that monotheism is in its turn doomed to subtract one more god and become atheism.
